The TB14 is a traditionally styled low profile box section rim. Detail freaks will appreciate things like the double eyelets, offset spoke holes and the valve hole insert to ensure the rin is perfectly balanced. It's manufactured from G609 alloy which is apparently 20% stonger than the 6061 used in most rims. The braking surface is machined and the joint is invisibly welded
The shallow 14mm profile is perfect for classic or retro styled steel bikes, especially with the mirror polished silver finish. At 23mm wide it's ideal for tyres from 23mm to 40mm. The current trend is to pair a 23mm rim a with a 23mm or 25mm tyre; the wider rim is stiffer and the tyre profile much like a tubular. The result is more positive cornering with none of the 'squirm' sometimes associated with narrow rims.
Note that if you're using rim brakes the anodising will wear off the braking surface. This isn't a problem as you eventually end up with a normal silver braking track and inbetween you get a cool 'pulse' effect. Something to consider if you're planning to just use a front brake though.
