ustin Burls is a UK framebuilder, best known for his work in custom steel. In the last couple of years he's been working with specialists in the former Soviet Union to build his titanium frames to order. We were knocked out with the clear thinking and neat execution of the Burls Ti line and asked Justin if he'd consider filling in spare time at the factory by building us some stock frames. To our delight, Justin said 'yes'. Hubjub's first Burls Ti frames crossed the Baltic in Summer 07.
The Ti Courier is a streetfix, pure and simple. The USP is that it's made of plaingauge titanium rather than steel. It offers a nice compromise between stiffness and compliance, works well with both vintage track kit and modern boutique stuff, and looks the biz. It can be built up seriously lightweight, but we designed it for hard town riding so 23c tyres are no problem. Sizes are 52.5, 55 and 57.5cm measured c-c along the top tube. Since Reynolds have discontinued production of carbon forks we're now supplying the Ti Courier frame-only -- you will have to source your own fork. Just a couple of 52.5 now remain. Restock is scheduled for 2010. |
